Psi Upsilon Omega Chapter Spotlight on Stacey Youngblood

Therapist & Federal Grant Manager

Stacey Youngblood became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated on March 24, 1996 through the Kappa Xi chapter at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she graduated with a bachelor’s of Arts in psychology. Later on she pursued a Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is one of 29 women who chartered the Psi Upsilon Omega chapter in Henderson, NV.

 

Stacey also has a small Marriage and Family Therapy private practice in Henderson. In her private practice she works to reduce the stigma that is related to mental health. She provided therapy to juvenile victims of sex trafficking and abused and neglected children. Although she treats individuals, couples and children, her core focus is the family unit. She specializes in Christian counseling which combines scientific research with biblical teachings.

 

In 2016, she became one of the newest graduates of the Leadership Henderson program. The Henderson Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Henderson program chooses 30 Henderson leaders in various fields to embark on a six-month program where they engage in all the various aspects that makes the City of Henderson great. This year’s class raised $50,000 for the nonprofit organization In12days which provides services to families who have been devastated by the death of an immediate family member. This year’s class also worked with the Henderson library district to provide “little libraries” in various Henderson neighborhoods.

 

Stacey works in Community Development and Services doing federal grant management and compliance for City of Henderson. In this capacity she administers over $1.5 million in federal and state funding which is distributed to nonprofit programs and services related to housing assistance, youth afterschool programs, employment services, neighborhood revitalization, community centers, and capital improvement projects. The key focus of her position is to make sure that low to moderate income Henderson residents are receiving opportunities to better their financial situations whether that be through education, employment or other opportunities. She is responsible for writing the Annual Action Plan, Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report and the five-year Consolidated Plan  for

the City of Henderson. These reports are the strategic plans that are used to reduce poverty in the City of Henderson and increase opportunity for low income residents. She also leads Henderson efforts to end homelessness by coordinating the Annual Homeless Census Count Deployment center in Henderson, arrange for homeless residents to participate in the Project Homeless Connect events and she participates in the regional efforts to end homelessness. She serves on the monitoring working group for the Southern Nevada Homeless Continuum of Care Board.

 

Stacey has been married for 13 years to Ken Youngblood who is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Together they have one daughter named Nia. Family life is extremely important to her. She actively participates in her daughter’s Girl Scout troop as well as served as the classroom mom at her daughter school.
