Iva I. Harris, the wife of Ermon M. Harris, SR. for more than fifty years, mother of two sons and grandmother of five grandchildren began her career in 1962 as a pre-school and kindergarten teacher at Kindergarten and Children’s Aid Association in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1965, she became the director of Vanbuskirk Community Children’s Center in Stockton, California. She became a school teacher and counselor for Stockton Unified School District in 1965, and retired from the state of California in 2004. She also worked for Clark County School District from 2005 as a school teacher and counselor in the state of Nevada and retired in 2010. Alongside her career as an educator, in 1985, Iva started her own business named Iva’s International Skin Care and Cosmetic Company. Iva still provides the opportunity for Independent Distributors to build their own business by sharing the Iva’s International’s financial opportunity and her exquisite and affordable skin care and cosmetic products. Iva is also a student of guitar and alto saxophone. Iva is also a professional actor and loves to sing.

Education and Credentials:

Iva received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from AM&N College (now University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) in 1963 with a major in social sciences and minors in Humanities and English. In 1979, Iva received a Master of Arts Degree from California State University at Turlock, California with a major in school counseling.

 

Notable Achievements:

In June, 1991, Iva received the Athena Award in Stockton, California from Don Man of Hansel and Ortman Dealership and San Joaquin County Chamber of Commerce for Outstanding Business Woman of the Year. The Susan B. Anthony Award from San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, State of California Senate, Congressman Richard W. Pombo, California State Assembly and San Joaquin County Commissioner of Women in February, 1998 in Stockton, California, Career Day Participation Award from John C. Fremont Middle School in Stockton, California in 1987, Outstanding Business Woman of The Year from NAACP (Stockton Branch) in 1997, Proclamation from Mayor Richard J. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. since June, 1978 Iva served in Eta Gamma Omega Chapter in Sacramento, California, Mu Zeta Omega Chapter in Stockton, California, and now with Psi Upsilon Omega Chapter of Henderson, Nevada. Iva’s philosophy of life is to not wait for others to do for her. She makes things happen for herself with the help of others who value her goals and aspirations. In turn, it is her desire for their lives to be touched, as well.
